This station was located on the west side of South Paint Street near 11th Street. The original Dayton & Southeastern RR station was built here in 1879. Not sure if that is the same station as the one pictured.

Prior to the freight station listed below which was built in 1910, the N&W used the old Scioto Valley freight station which was on the south side of Sugar Street at GPS: 39.336300, -82.969952. That old station was torn down around the time the new station was built as it is not on Sanborn maps from 1914. There was a smaller freight station at this location in 1888 that was either replaced or expanded.

This station was located at 404 East Main Street (South Sugar between Main and Fourth Streets) (GPS: 39.334521,-82.96978). It was built in 1871 at a cost of $20,000. The original building was added onto on four occasions; mostly brick with some frame. In its heyday, the station featured a full dining room and lunch counter. The station burned down in the early morning hours of February 8, 2012. Arson was suspected (Chillicothe Gazette, 2-9-2012). |

The M&C (CW&B, B&O) freight station was on the south side of Main Street across the tracks to the NE of the passenger station. It is shown on early maps and was demolished in 1960 to make way for the new Main Street overpass that was built that year.

| Notes About Existing
Stations... Chillicothe (B&O) - This freight station was built in 1960 (Chillicothe Gazette, 8-11-1960) when the old freight station was demolished to make way for the new Main Street overpass. Delano (SV) - The original location of this station was where Delano Road crosses the tracks. Property records indicate that it was built (moved to) at its current location in 1920 (these property records, however, are frequently incorrect about historical dates). However, a newspaper article from October 1920 (Chillicothe Gazette, 10-5-1920) indicates the the/a depot was still standing at Delano then. It is not clear if that was the same building or a newer station. Jeff McCarty writes, "My great grandmother lived in the house for much of her life. I believe the station was moved around 1899 to the location at 616 Buckeye Street. I am personally familiar with the history of since around 1960 and before as I visited that location regularly with my grandfather and my uncle who purchased it in the 1960's. I learned that it was rolled up there on logs pulled by teams of horses etc. around 1899. The house previous to 1964 had very tall ceilings and a separate entrance in the rear which was the "baggage room" per Phillip Jacob Laessle who lived there since he was young. In 1965 or so my uncle (and father and others) lowered the upstairs floor (downstairs ceiling) in three sections to the present 8' height." Fruitdale (Ohio Southern) - The building was there prior to the RR, but served as a station in later years. It has hand cut stone foundation, a hand cut oak frame, a spring house and three secret stairways. Over the years it also served as a post office, general store, hotel, speakeasy, and gentlemen's club. |
