Thief River Falls | The first GN depot here burned down on March 7, 1894. It was on the north side of 1st Street on the east side of the tracks at GPS: 48.117267, -96.189815.
Thief River Falls | This was the second GN depot here built in late 1894. It was located on the west side of Main Avenue at GPS: 48.115602, -96.182414. It was used as a freight station after a new station was built across the tracks. The 1915 GN Valuation Record for 1915 lists a 23'x108' station at this location.
Thief River Falls | This was the original Soo Line depot built in 1904. After the new brick station was built in 1912, it continued to serve as the freight station after being moved along the tracks to the north at 6th Street at GPS: 48.122270, -96.176192. After it was moved and converted into a freight station, the building was extended to 216' long. It was demolished in 1988.

Notes About Existing Stations... Anita (Soo Line) - This depot was originally in Anita (Marshall County). That town no longer exists. The building was moved to Theif River Falls in 1956 and used as a yard office. Anita was about 9 miles north of Thief River Falls along US-59. Goodridge (MN Northwestern) - Even though this site doesn't list interurban depots, I have decided to include this one since the station is similar to a regular RR station and it was once a Soo Line subsidiary. This was the only station this line ever had. From Wikipedia: "The Minnesota Northwestern Electric Railway was an interurban gasoline-electric railway which operated passenger and freight service between Thief River Falls and Goodridge, operating from 1914 to 1940.The railway also served Silverton Township and Mavie (although there were no depots there). There were several other stops along the way. The original plan was to extend the line all the way to International Falls, however due to poor finances, the line never extended beyond Goodridge. The line was acquired by the Minneapolis, St. Paul and Sault Ste. Marie Railway ("Soo Line") in 1915, and then leased back to the original management. The railway continued to operate with its only piece of motive power – a General Electric gas-electric interurban car numbered 101 until it ceased operation on March 15, 1940. Thief River Falls (GN) - This is the third GN depot that was built in TRF. The first burned and this one replaced the second. It was originally located on the east side of Main Avenue at GPS: 48.115533, -96.180867. Viking (Soo Line) - This depot was originally on the east side of Main Street, on the north side of the tracks in Viking. It was moved to Thief River Falls in 1973. |
