Notes
Barrett This station, built in 1886, was on the south side of Hawkins Avenue near Front Street.
Canestorp This town no longer exists. It was located near the intersection of CR 1 and Twp. Road 47, west of Elbow Lake. The station was most likely on Manitoba Avenue which paralleled the tracks. There was no station listed for Canestorp in the 1915 GN Valuation Records, so if one existed it was gone by then.
Elbow Lake This is the first-generation Soo station built in 1886. It was on the east side of Central Avenue.
Elbow Lake This station, built in 1916, was also on the east side of Central Avenue at GPS: 45.990580, -95.976452 at the same site as the previous depot. It was heavily damaged in a 1920 collision, but was quickly repaired and continued to serve. It closed in 1972.
Elbow Lake According to the 1915 GN Vaulation Records, a 20'x64' frame combination station was built here in 1887. It was in the vicinity of where Industrial Park Boulevard is today (the street is the old grade). After the station was retired (it was abandoned by the GN in August 1957), it was moved to a farm southwest of town where it eventually collapsed.
Erdahl
(Cork)
This station was located on the NW side of the tracks between the northern ends of Leonore (now 122 Avenue) and Elm (now Cherry Key) Streets. According to the 1915 GN Vaulation Records, a 20'x65' frame combination station was built here in 1887. The GN abandoned this station in August 1957.
Hereford
(Hereford Spur)
This town is virtually non-existent now. It was located in the northeast corner of North Ottawa Township, south of Mud Lake. The station was on Front Street between Main and East Streets (all now gone). According to the 1915 GN Vaulation Records, a 12'x34' frame combination station was built here in 1906. The GN abandoned this station in June 1949.
Hoffman The depot was on the NW side of Main Avenue (formerly called Lincoln Avenue). It was built in 1886.
Norcross This older station predated the existing station.
norcross This station's original location was on the SE side of Griswold Avenue. After it went out of service, it was moved to a farm on Route 9, about one mile north of town where it was used for storage. It burned down sometime around 2005-2007.
Thorsborg
(Thorsburg)
According to the 1915 GN Vaulation Records, a 20'x65' frame combination station was built here in 1887. Thorsborg was between Elbow Lake and Erdahl. The station banadoned by the GN in July 1949.
Wendell When the tracks went through town (before being rerouted south of town), the station, built in 1886, was on the west side of South Main Street at Railway Avenue. The track bed through town is now Soo Avenue.
