Notes About Existing Stations...
Alexandria (St. Paul & Pacific) - This is likely the only remaining St. Paul & Pacific station left in the state. The St.P&P was a Great Northern predacessor. According to the 1915 GN Valuation records, the freight station measured 24'x160' and was built in 1878. This was likely the original combination station, which then served as the freight station after the new passenger station was built in 1907. Farwell (Soo Line) - This station has been moved twice since its retirement. It was first on a farm on the NW side of Mitmoen Lake before being moved in 2010 to its current location near Holmes City. Garfield (GN) - The original location of the station was near the intersection of CR 82 and State Street (CR 12). Kensington (Soo Line) - The original location of the station was west of the Kensington Street/Pacific Street intersection. It was on the north side of the tracks. It was moved to Runestone Park, CR103 SW, north of Kensington where it sat for many years, but in 2017 it was deemed inappropriate for the park and moved back into town. |
